Police Arraign Five For Gang-Raping 11-Year-Old Girl
The Rivers State Police Command through its legal department has arraigned five young men before a Port Harcourt magistrate court for allegedly gang-raping an 11-year-old girl in Buguma Community in Asari Toru Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects include Ebi Danagogo-Jack (23), Fubara George (22), Precious Omubo-Wokoma, (21) Dennis Amaye (-Lugard (53) Alalibo Harry (32), who were alleged to have at different times, abused the minor sexually.
According to the charges sheet sighted in court, the suspects include: the victim’s step father, her school class teacher, a pastor of a new generation church in Buguma and two area boys. Some of the suspects were alleged to have started abusing the minor from when she was at the age of six.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Menenen Poromon after listening to Counsel in the matter, , directed for an amendment on the charges and adjourned the case to 6th of December, 2022, for the suspects to take their plea and for bail consideration.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen, Spokesperson of International Federation of Female Lawyers, FIDA in Rivers State, Sophia Afoloyan, said the suspects must be brought to book for allegedly failing in their duty to protect the little girl who is an orphan.
