Okiri Tasks LGA Chairmen To Invest On Grassroots Sports
The  Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on School Sports Barrister Aribitonye Okiri has advised the  Local Government chairmen in the State  to invest in grassroots sports development in their area.
He stated that grassroots sports investment was the catalyst for youth development in the State, saying chairmen should formulate policies will always bring youths together meaningfully, mostly sporting activities, as it can be described as a valuable tools for developing a state or nation.
Okiri gave the advice on Saturday in an interview with sports journalists shortly after the opening ceremony of the Ahoada East Local Government Council football competition “tagged” Chairman’s Cup, at the Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State.
According to him,  sports has the capacity to create job opportunities,  adding that other Local Government Council chairmen should emulate the Chairman Ahoada East LGA, Hon Benjamin Isreal Eke.
“The development of talent is to be build from the grassroots I like to commend the Ahoada East Local Government Council Chairman Hon Benjamin Eke for what he is doing in the development of sports at the grassroots.
“ In Ahoada East you will see different types of sporting activities taking place, he is taking sports to a higher level” Okiri said.
He prayes  God to give Eke the strength to continue in the development of sports in his LGA, According to him, for grassroots sports development to grow we must invest in it.
He disclosed that he has told the Chairman of the LGA to build Stadium in the Ahoada East Local Government Area.
