The Head coach of Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt, Edwin Okon, has praised his girls (players) performance in match day two of the Nigeria Women Football League, (NWFL), after they defeated Osun Babes 2-1 on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.
He said that the three points earned in the game was very important for them, adding that they even play better than they did in their first game in Yenagoa.
Okon said this on Wednesday in his post match interview with sports journalists shortly after the game at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
He stated that it was their first home game, and there was so much expectation from the team, narrating that he is so glad they picked all the three points which is most important to the team.
“It’s our first home game. There was so much expectation and I am glad we picked all the three points which is the most important thing today.
“Well, we have done so well today to improve on our form.
“Playing on this ground we need to adapt because this is our first game here so we need to marry the pitch. By the time we play second to third matches it will be a slaughter ground.
“I can equally say that there was so much improvement in our game today compared to our first game in Yenagoa.
“Loss of concentration cost us that game but that is football for you,” Okon stated.
Goals from Blessing Okpe and Juanita Aguadze handed the seven time NWFL champions 2-1.
Okpe opened scoring in the fifth minute from close range following a cross by Chiamaka Okwuchukwu while Bolaji Olamide leveled for the visitors just before the break.
Aquadze, however, came from the bench to restore Rivers Angels lead in the 77th minutes after a brilliant delivery by Ifeoma Ikenokwalu.
