Force Headquarters Wins 13th Police Games

The 13th Nigeria Police Games holding in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday came to an end with Force Headquarters (FHQ) team, Abuja leading in the medal table.
The medals table as at late afternoon on Wednesday shows FHQ gathered a total of 222 medals, 112 gold, 70 silver and 40 bronze.
Zone 2 is in 2nd place with 220 medals while Zone 11 finished in 3rd place. However, information from the Games Secretariat indicates that some results were expected to arrive.
About 6000 Police athletes from 17 Zones and FHQ took part in 30 different sports with Cricket and Triathlon scoring for the first time in the Biennial Nigeria Police Games.
Present at the closing ceremony at the Nest of Champions, Uyo was the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, CDS, Service Chiefs, Heads of sister security formations, members of Police Service Commission and related ministries.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel was represented by his Deputy, Moses Ekpo.
The Games planning committee chairman, AIG Hafiz Inuwa commended governor Emmanuel and Akwa Ibom people for their hospitality. “Gov. Emmanuel has maintained the relationship, hospitality and a bridge builder who desires a better nation.”
AIG Inuwa praised Akwa Ibom State Governor for speedy completion of the Olympic size swimming pool for use during the Games.
The Games was originally planned for Police College, Ikeja but the assurance and support of Gov. Emmanuel ensured a successful hosting of the 13th Biennial Nigeria Police Games in Uyo.
