Expert Tasks Youths On Enterpreneuship Growth
An expert entrepreneur, Engr. Richard John, has urged young Nigerians to acquire and apply basic skills as a means of making money and earning sustainable livelihood.
The entrepreneur, who is a Port Harcourt-based bussiness executive at Rumueprikom Community in Obio Akpor Local Government Area, said this in a chat with news men shortly after the inauguration of the newly- elected executives of the Rivers State Chapter of the Licence Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN).
Engr. John said young people can only be economically relevant in modern society, which strives on technological innovations, if they learn and apply functional skills rather than waiting for white collar jobs.
He said priority attention should be given by governments at all levels and other relevant agencies to training of youths in various skills, particularly in the grassroots to enable them cope with basics technological trends.
He noted that basic incentives should be provided for such youths to apply the various acquired skills.
Engineer John congratulated the newly elected executives of LECAN and urged them to live up to the challenges of professionalism and standards in the discharge of their services.
He described the electricity sector as very critical to the economy and identified electricity as a foremost incentive needed to boost the local economy.
He said:“Truth is that if the basic utilities such as electricity is functioning optimally, it be a bulwark to interpreneural development especially at the rural areas were majority of Nigerians reside.
“Small scale bussinesses will be enabled to strive and young people will be able to enjoy sustainable living”
According to him , the total liberalisation of the power sector to accommodate the inputs of key professional service providers like LECAN to address the overwhelming power needs of Nigerians who spend more money on generators to do their bussinesses.
