CAFCC: Rivers United Drawn In B Group

Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt have been drawn in group B alongside ASEC Mimosa (Cote D’Ivoire), Diables Noirs (Congo) and Motema Pembe (DR Congo) in the group stage of this season’s CAF Confederation’s Cup.
The Pride of Rivers were the sixth ball drawn out, placing them in Group B alongside notable face ASEC Mimosa, as well as DRC most successful club with 27 titles at national level, Motema Pembe and the last year’s runner up of Congo Premier League, Diables Noirs.
Rivers United will face ASEC Mimosa for the first time in any competition. The Abidjan based side eliminated another Ivorian side Gagnou 5-2 on aggregate to reach the group stage.
The reigning Nigeria Professional Football League Champions will face Diables Noirs for the first time in a competitive game, which made it to this stage after they knocked out La Passe of Seychelles 6-2 on aggregate. They won last Congolese Premier league title in 2011 and finished as runner up last year
Daring Club Motema Pembe is also a new opponent for Rivers United, who were successful over Flambeau du Centre FC of Burundi 4-1 on aggregate to reach the group stage.
