2023: Cleric Doubts INEC’s Capacity For Electronic Transmission Of Results ……Hails Wike Over Finebone’s, Daminabo’s Appointments As Commissioners
Ahead of the February and March, 2023 general elections in Nigeria, a renowned cleric and resident minister of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, Okoloma-Afam Bethel, in Oyigbo Local Government Council of Rivers State, Apostle Charles Tamunodienye Epelle, has expressed reservations over the capacity of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to transmit the election results electronically.
Speaking with journalists recently in Port Harcourt, Epelle disclosed that his fears stem from the fallout of the inquiry by the Commonwealth delegation to Nigeria on whether INEC possesses a sense of what they feel concerning the new technologies deployed by the electoral umpire and the preparedness of the political parties towards the polls, adding that INEC needs to stand tall and deliver.
“One particular thing that remains worthy of interest is the part of the transmission of election results, but we have reservations on the capacity of INEC to transmit results electronically in all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria,” Epelle said, adding that “All what we are saying is that INEC should be acquainted with the use of the transmission process that would produce outstanding election results electronically next year.”
Meanwhile, Apostle Epelle, has lauded Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State over the recent appointment of Opobo illustrious sons likes of Alabo-elect Chris Finebone and Amaopusenibo Benedict Daminabo as Commissioners for Information and Communications, as well as Commerce and Industry, respectively.
He said the duo of Finebone and Daminabo’s elevation was an outstanding honour and reward for selflessness in service to the good people of Opobo/Nkoro LGA and Rivers State that they represent, who on daily basis, yearn for better and workable inclusion in the affairs of Rivers State in particular and Nigeria in general.
He also described the new heights attained by Finebone and Daminabo as products of loyalty and consistency to the service of humanity.
“I am using this opportunity to heartily rejoice with these leaders of our time as Commissioners under PDP in the Wike-led administration in Rivers State. Your elevation to these enviable positions was a product of hard work, commitment to duties and loyalty to the PDP. I pray God Almighty to continue to guide you all with wisdom, agility and strength as you discharge your assignments creditably”, he said.
I urge you both to be worthy and resourceful ambassadors of the ancient kingdom in particular, Rivers State and Nigeria in general,” Epelle said.
He further asserted that Chris Finebone and Ben Daminabo would move to higher citadels of power next year when PDP retains power in the oil-rich state.
