2022 Trade Fair, Window Of Investment – PHCCIMA Boss
The President of Port Harcourt Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), Chief Mike Elechi, has said this year’s trade exhibition will open several windows of opportunities to investors within and outside the state.
Elechi said this when he read his address of welcome at the opening session of the 2022 Trade Fair organised by the Chambers in Port Harcourt, last Friday.
“Despite many uncertainties and downturns in the economy, we were poised to organize this Trade Fair which could not hold in the last two years, 2020 and 2021, due to COVID-19 which negativity affected businesses and mankind around the world,” he said.
According to him, the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce was in appreciation of the achievements of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and tasked investors and the business class to make best use of the opportunities.
He expressed optimism that the state has almost returned to its Garden City status given the level of development it has recorded so far.
“The theme of this year is, therefore, very apt as we position SMEs, big businesses and local craftsmen towards utilizing this veritable platform and the developed infrastructure to leverage the trade opportunities in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA)”, he said.
National President of National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Ide John Udeagbala, represented by First Deputy National President, Dele Oye, said with an estimate of over 45 million SMEs in Nigeria, collaboration with relevant bodies would improve businesses in the state and the country in general.
Udeagbala, also appealed to exhibitors on the need to utilise the opportunity and display their products and services to the world.
The Tide learnt that all Local Government Areas in the state and thousands of business operators are set to make their exhibition at the Trade Fair.
The theme of the 16th Port Harcourt International Trade Fair, 2022, is “Preparing SMEs To Maximise Trade Opportunities In Africa, In AFCFTA, Within The South-South Region”.
