The Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Hon. Obarilomate Ollor, has cautioned Christians against refraining from politics, insisting that such act would lead to enthronement of the wrong persons in leadership positions.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service at the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, Alejor in Onne, which coincided with the 2022 Annual Diocesan Women Rally of the church, Ollor harped on the need for all and sundry to participate actively in politics by voting for the right candidates who can turn the fortunes of the people while admonishing them to obey constituted authorities.
Making reference to Romans 13:1-7 to buttress his point, Ollor said God recognises governance and those in authority, and as such, enough was enough of having wicked and wrong thinking persons in leadership positions in Eleme.
He added that he was passionate about the development of Eleme but it was the PDP that gave him the platform.
He expressed belief that voting for the PDP House of Assembly candidates, AforjiIgwe, in the coming election would consolidate his good work in the area.
Ollor maintained that he owes everything he was today to God who has been moving him from strength to strength and from glory to glory, which necessitated his thanksgiving.
Joining Ollorin the thanksgiving, the member representing Eleme in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Aforji Igwe, acknowledged that nothing done in the house of God was a waste.
According to him, the life of Ollor depicts such because the hand of God was evident in his life.
He added that if Ollor continues in leadership, better and greater things would come to Eleme.
He assured Ollor of his continued support for his administration to aid the collective development of Eleme.
The thanksgiving service witnessed prayer for the Council Chairman, Chief ObarilomateOllor, and the council.
Present at the service were Chief CascaOgosu, local government council appointees and administrative officers, friends and well-wishers.
Shortly after the church service, Ollor paid a condolence visit to the family of late Chief Columbus Okazu (paramount ruler of Agbeta Community, Ebubu), and the family of late Comrade Liberty Nwokoma of Alode, praying God to embody them with the strength needed to heal at this critical time.
