The Chairman of Obio Akpor Local Government Council, Barrister George Ariolu, said that Rivers State was a base and home town of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ariolu made this assertion when he was addressing journalists at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, venue of the Rivers State PDP Campaign flag-off and unveiling of Sir Siminialayi Fubara, last Saturday, in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Fubara said that the mammoth crowd that graced the flag-off was as a result of the sterling performance of the leader of the party in the state, Governor Nyesom Wike.
He said the governor’s excellent performance has attracted more supporters to the party.
“What you are seeing here today, is a tsunami of supporters and that tells you that Governor Wike has done well for Rivers State. For you to have a leader that commands this kind of respect, you should know that such leader is worth the while.”
Speaking further, Ariolu said that the flag-off was a funfair for all members of the party in the state because the message was a clear consolidation of the new Rivers Vision and handing over of the baton from Chief Nyesom Wike to Siminialayi Fubara.
The highlight of the rally was the presentation of flags to the governorship candidates and National Assembly candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state (PDP).
