Ollor Orders Immediate Repairs Of Dilapidated Aleto Road
The Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Chief Obarilomate Ollor, has ordered the immediate repairs of the dilapidated session of Aleto road by Timber, on the Old Eleme-Bori Road.
Ollor, who made a brief stopover on his way to the office, last Monday morning, expressed displeasure over the bad state of the road which has become impassable for motorists, mostly when it rains.
The road, which has become an alternative route for commuters travelling to Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and the various local governments in the state’s South-East Senatorial District, has gradually become a death trap due to heavy traffic on the road.
According to Ollor, “This road has become like this due to the heavy traffic arising from the bad state of the Eleme axis of the East-West Road, and as a result of this, vehicles have consistently had issues at this very stop. Therefore, as a responsible and responsive government, we decided to fix this defective spot so our people can have easy access to their various means of livelihood.”
He further lamented the irresponsibility of the Federal Government, which had made life difficult for citizens using the road.
Ollor said, “At our level as a local government, this is what we can handle; that is why I have said time and again that the current Federal Government has not shown any form of responsibility, especially to the Eleme people. If they had done so, we wouldn’t be in this situation. I was expecting them to prove us wrong, but so far, they have failed because they have never deemed it wise to raise this issue in the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for approval”.
He seized the opportunity to thank the Rivers State Governor, Chief NyesomWike, for directing the contractor handling the Woji-Aleto-AlesaLink Road to return to site for the speedy completion of the project.
The project, which was inaugurated, last year, became slow following some unforeseen circumstances.
But following the governor’s recent directive, necessary equipment have been spotted moving to sight.
Ollor assured Eleme people of his administration’s continued efforts to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
“We will continue to do our best at our level to offer such services as would make life easy for our people. I can assure you that Eleme is on the new phase of development, and what we are doing here would be translated to other spots along the Old BoriRoad that are inaccessible which is within our control”, he said.
