Team Sugar Dominates Bua’s Inter-Dept Competition
Bua Company took out time for an inter-departmental football competition with Team Sugar emerging winners in both the male and female games.
The final match which took place at the Shark’s Stadium on Monday saw the Male Sugar team walloping their arch-rivals, Pasta and Flour 4-1, while the female team also beat their counterparts 1-0.
Speaking with our sports correspondent soon after the match, the Human Resources Manager of the company, Tayo Ojo opined that as the largest sugar refining company in Nigerian, it is part of its Social Corporate Responsibilities to recreate out of office, adding that the management would decide on whether to make it an annual event.
Ojo expressed delight with the management and others for making the event a huge success, stressing that it was exciting.
In his remarks, the Captain of Team Sugar, Papamie-Dikibo David Akuru said the victory was a result of determination as they trained hard, pointing out that they are ready to defend the trophy in the next edition with God on their side.
Also speaking, Coach of Team Pasta and Flour, Godbless Iyaye said in every contest there must be a winner and loser as they take the result or outcome of the match in good fate, adding that they will prepare adequately for next year to ensure that they turn the table in their favour.
At the end of the games, Lawrence Samuel of Pasta and Flour was won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the day.
