MOSIEND Hails Wike On FG’s Meritorious Award … Says He’s Beacon Of Hope For Nigerians
The leadership of Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND), a socio-crusader in the region, has congratulated the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, on the recent Nigeria Excellence in Public Service award conferred on him by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
The group, which described Wike as a beacon of hope for millions of Nigerians, said the “Distinguished Award on Infrastructure Delivering” conferred on Wike was testament that the governor’s hard work and outstanding performance was acknowledged and appreciated from even the opposition.
MOSIEND, in a statement by its President, Amb Kennedy Tonjo-West, said Wike had left no one in doubt that he was going to take governance seriously, and cause the electorate to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
The statement noted that Wike’s focused and uncompromised disposition toward transforming the state was worthy of emulation as he had evenly distributed projects to all the nooks and crannies of the state and beyond.
MOSIEND said, Wike targeted the core and desired projects, such as the construction and completion of 12 flyovers in the state capital, construction ofcardiovascular and cancer centre, construction of Trans-Kalabari road and Opobo/Nkoro road projects to give the state a facelift.
Other projects, MOSIEND said, include the construction of modern Convocation Arena at University of Port Harcourt, construction of various link roads across the state, and completion of three new off campuses of Rivers State University at Emohua, Etche and Ahoada to improve learning and employment opportunities.
The group, which described the award as well-deserved, said Wike had the ears of the youths across the length and breadth of the region.
“There’s hardly any area that Wike did not touch in terms of infrastructure as he has rebranded the health sector, education, roads, housing, making the state one of the fastest growing states in Nigeria.”
MOSIEND also commended the governor for building the new law school in Rivers State, and donating N5billion to Bayelsa law school.
“Wike is a beacon of hope and a leading light in the region and the country; his towering political profile remains an inspiration.
“We have not seen a democratically elected governor past and present that has promoted the Niger Delta course than Wike, who has endeared himself to the youths of the region.
“Wike stands out amongst his contemporaries in Nigerian political climate.
“We urge the governors of the Niger Delta states to rally round him and take a cue from Wike to promote regional cohesion”, MOSIEND said.
