Methodist Knights Confab Ends In PH

A three-day national conference of Knights and 9th Assembly of Ladies of Knights of Methodist Church of Nigeria, has ended in Port Harcourt ,Rivers State with a call for Knights to be vessels of honour in the service of God and to society at large .
The three-day event was hosted by the Diocese of Port Harcourt Methodist Church and attracted Knights and Ladies from the 36 States and ,Abuja the including officials of council of Knights Diocese of Niger Delta North of Anglican Church of Nigeria .
Delivering his address while declaring open the conference with the theme, “Prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, held at the Banham Methodist Cathedra, Port Harcourt ,the retiring Prelate of Methodist Church of Nigeria ,His Eminence Samuel Emmanuel Kanu Uche, urged the Knights to be agents of good and what is right and be vessels of honour in the vineyard of God and service to humanity .
“But in a great house, there are not only vessels of gold and of silver ,but also of wood and earth ,and some to honour ,and some to dishonour.If a man therefore purges himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour ,sanctified ,and meet for the master’s use, prepared unto every good work”, he stated
Uche averred that Knighthood was a special recognition accorded to members who have contributed to the growth and services of God by the church and not a cult group of a privileged, adding that the aim of the award was to encourage members to continue to be faithful. “It is not a retirement benefit ,it is an encouragement to do more for God because to whom much is given, much is expected “
The Prelate used the opportunity to commend them for identifying with the progress of the church through their various contributions and donations that have advanced the work and the expansion of the church across the country ,even as he called on members of the Knights and Ladies of the church to extend their hands of fellowship to his successor as they did to him for the nine years of his episcopal ministry in the church .
Also speaking, the National President, Council of Knights, Methodist Church of Nigeria, Justice Umoekoyo Essang said the essence of the conference was to avail the forum an opportunity to appraise its activities for the year ending to see where progress has been made and also where improvement needs to be effected, adding that the conference is held once in a year .
Essang averred that there will be lots of impact in the church after the meeting especially with regards to the ongoing construction of the church’s Cathedral in Yola in Adamawa State by the members of the Council of Knights of the Methodist Church .
Earlier in an interview, the Chairman of Council of Knights, Port Harcourt Diocese and Chairman of the Organising Committee, Sir Isaiah Uwakwe said the annual event is rotational across the States, adding that the conference offers the opportunity for members of the Knights and Ladies to critique events and take critical decisions which would impact positively to the Body of Christ .
He assured that every decisions taken at the conference would be implemented for the advancement and growth of the church at large .
