The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council of Rivers State, Hon Barasua Anengi, has directed all heads of government schools in the area to obey the State Executive Order 21 signed into law by the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
She also enjoined all heads of government agencies to comply and urged security agencies to enforce the order, saying that security of lives and property is important to her as Chairman of the area.
Anengi gave the directives while briefing newsmen in her office at the council headquarters in Bonny.
It would be recalled that the State Governor last week signed Executive Order 21 mandating all political parties seeking to use premises of public schools across the State for campaigns to obtain written approval from the Ministry of Education with the sum of N5million as caution fee two weeks before the event.
The local government boss explained that the Governor does not want any security breach in the State, saying that the Security of lives and property is key to any reasonable government.
“I have directed all heads of government schools, and agencies to immediately comply with the Executive Order 21.
“It is to prevent security breach and ensure caution in handling government properties in the State. I know the Governor means well for Rivers people.
“Any group or political party that violates the Order 21 will be charged to court immediately. A committee will be set up to monitor full compliance in the area,” Hon. Anengi said.
According to her, what the Governor has done has no political correlation as alleged by oppositions, adding the Governor should rather be commended for taking the right steps to protect Government facilities from destruction by enemies of the State.
“My administration will not give room for mischief makers to cause crisis and disrupt public peace, which the people of Bonny and companies operating in the area are enjoying.
“The existing peace in Bonny today took time to restore, hence I can’t keep quiet for any group under whatever guise to disrupt it”, She stated.
