Foundation Wants Govt To Evolve Policy For Dyslexia Management
A non-governmental organisation labeled Dyslexia Foundation has called for the evolvement of policies to manage dyslexia In Children.
While counselling parents to embrace children who show signs of the challeng, Arikpo said most dyslexia children are extra ordinarily imbued with talents.
Chairman of the foundation, Ben Arikpo in a chat with newsmen said the problem of dyslexia is growing daily.
Currently he revealed that one out of five children have dyslexia and out of 10 children two will have the problem.
He noted that many parents find it difficult to manage children with dyslexia as it poses problem to learning and reading.
Dyslexia according to him manifests in the form of reading and learning difficulties, including speech among children.
He said,” parents should breakaway from the old pattern. A child who is dyslexic is normal and can overgrow with proper management.”
However, he observed that if managed well children outgrow and improve with time, but warned that if ignored the health challenge may manifest through life.
One way for government to intervene, he pointed out is in training teachers and specialists in managing dyslexia children, as obtained in western countries.
