First Baptist Church Organises Football Competition
As part of its activities to mark 100 years of First Baptist Church in Nigeria, the Church has organised Football Competition in Old Port Harcourt Township.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of Number Six Field Management Committee in Old Port Harcourt Township, Dabo- Opuye Fubara applauded the First Baptist Church in the area for organising a football competition among communities in the axis.
Fubara made the commendation on Saturday in an exclusive interview with Tidesports shortly after one of the semi final matches of the competition at the Number Six field in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the Church has done well by fostering peace, love and unity among youths in the area, saying that few weeks now following the competition talents have been discovered and crime rate has drastically reduced.
The competition is part of activities to mark 100 years celebration of the church.
He explained that the tournament was another way of bringing the youth closer to God and advised other churches to emulate the First Baptist Church.
“ I am very happy for what First Baptist Church is doing in our communities because within few weeks of the competition, youths are meaningfully engaged. I think this is another way to encourage youths in the area,” Fubara said.
He further used the forum to call on other churches in the Old Port Harcourt Township axis to emulate the First Baptist Church, saying that such competitions can also be use as a means of preaching the gospel to the youth.
The chairman further commended the participating communities on their performance and conduct so far in the tournament.
In one of the semi-final matches played, Senge Polo beat Amasoma Polo 2-0.
