The Federal Government has said discussions were going on to brand the Sheda Science and Technology Complex (SHESTCO) to a desirable and admired technology hub in Nigeria, Africa and the world.
Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), Dr. Adeleke Mamora,  made the disclosure in a news  forum in Abuja recently.
Mamora said SHESTCO was critical to the achievement of the STI policy which highlighted driving development through establishing technological parks and hubs.
“The fundamental issue that is delaying SHESTCO is funding, but we already have a very serious international organisation that has come to inspect the complex.
“We have established that we have the land where we can build this tech hub and the organisation will provide the structure and its development.
“We are talking of a centre that will provide all the necessary components as a hub; for training, tourism, technology,’’ he said.
The Minister added that the hub would serve for technology and allied industry, for IT parks, incubation centre for technology start-ups and hands-on activities that can generate money for the system.
”It is a huge project that will generate revenue when set up and it is attractive to us because government does not have to pay, the system will be self-sustaining economically”, he said.
He continued that the ministry was already drawing up a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to the effect of the potential collaboration.
According to him, drawing up of MoU requires the input of the Attorney General of the Federation, because it is something that affects the country, adding that they were  on it and that the organisation  was serious about making it a reality.
