CeSAHA Launches Ilesa School Health Programme

The Centre for Sustainable Access to Health in Africa (CeSAHA) has confirmed its readiness to launch a comprehensive school health programme with the aim of providing basic healthcare services to students in select schools in Nigeria.
CeSAHA is an African-led, cause-based social enterprise incorporated in Nigeria (2015) and Canada (2016) by a group of experienced and visionary African health and developmental professionals and scientists.
A statement signed by the Executive Director of CeSAHA, Dr Babatunde Fakunle, said “In partnership with Ilesa Grammar School Old Students Association (ILEGSOSA) 1971 Set and other stakeholders, we are delivering a comprehensive School Health Programme (SHP) at Ilesa Grammar School.
“The overarching goal of the SHP istopreserve, improve and promote the health of all students, the staff, parents, alumni of Ilesa Grammar School (IGS) and the larger community through a sustainable, replicable, and scalable school health intervention programme.
“Under this programme, we shall be carrying out a series of activities that will include school health needs assessment, gap analysis, health education and counselling and basic health screening.
“Others include treatment of common ailments, referral services, training of first aiders and reactivation of the school health clinic among other measures all aimed at strengthening the primary health care system.
“We hereby invite you to the formal launch of the school health programme that will also birth a school health club which will influence the enhancement of quality of education and learning outcomes.
“The launch is slated to commence on Friday, October 21, at 9am prompt”, Fakunle, a retired regional community health manager for Shell Nigeria said in the statement.
