CAFCL: Wydad AC Not A Threat To Rivers United – Owhor

The Chairman of Rivers United FC Supporters Club, Comrade Franklin Owhor, has said that Wydad AC of Morocco is not a threat to his team.
He stated that, after seeing their performance in the first leg of the  CAF Champions League preliminary game that ended 2-1 in favour of Rivers United in Port Harcourt, he has no doubt that United will qualify for the group stage.
Comrade Owhor, made the assertion on Sunday after United beat visiting Wydad AC 2-1 in the competition, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, saying United have what it takes to run away with victory in Morocco on Sunday.
According to him, many people wrote off Rivers United, the Pride of Rivers, as they are nicked named, and saw the match as walkover for the current Moroccan League champions.
“Nigeria representative, Rivers United were very impressive in that match, they can also win the CAFCL with such impressive performance.
“ Really they have done well, whether  you like it or not, it is not easy playing against a highly rated North African club like Wydad AC, who are the current League champions in Morocco.
“Many people thought the game would have been a  walkover for the Moroccans, today we are happy that the  Pride of Rivers won the game. We are going to Morocco to show what we are made of, whether they like it or not”, Owhor stated.
The chairman used the forum to urge his members to keep supporting the team, hoping that by the grace of God, Rivers United will qualify  for group stage of the CAFCL.
