2022 Rivers Health Confab Begins, ’Morrow

Health practitioners in Rivers State under the auspices of Joint Health Practitioners are billed to host a 4-day conference from October 11th to 14th, 2022 in Port Harcourt.
Chairman of the Joint Health Conference Committee, Dr Chijioke Mandah, who disclosed this in a press briefing, said the conference is aimed at bringing together both the private and public health sectors to brainstorm on the way forward for the health sector in Rivers State.
“Health is wealth. Health is the largest provider of employment; it guarantees freedom and security. Health cannot be held in the hands of the few, it’s a business for all”, he stated.
According to Dr Mandah, it is towards attaining the expected standard of Health in the State that practitioners in the health sector have decided to come together.
“That’s why the allied and health practitioners in the private sector, in collaboration with the Rivers State Ministry of Health, is organising the novel programme to help reposition the healthcare delivery system in the State.
“This is because we know that together we can only get better. We know there are a lot to be done in the healthcare sector. That is why we have deemed it necessary to call the professionals in the health sector to come together to brainstorm and do the needful to ensure that health is guaranteed in Rivers State”, he said.
The Chairman further disclosed that those expected to be at the conference are medical professionals including medical doctors, medical laboratory scientists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, as well as those in the field of rehabilitation, and paramedical industry.
Fielding questions from journalists, Dr Mandah, who is a Director, Medical Services, Rivers State Ministry of Health, explained that Rivers State was able to combat the COVID-19 pandemic to a standstill mostly due to the timely interventions put in place by the State Governor, Barr.Nyesom Wike.
“In a system that is working well, this is the expected result. Why we are gathering today is to ensure that we get better by the day”, he said.
The conference is billed to hold at the Obi Wali International Conference in Port Harcourt.
