Following the release of the BudgIT Annual Fiscal Performance Ranking for 2022, the Rivers State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sir Siminialayi Fubara, has given kudos to the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for yet another feat in making the state top the list as the best ranked for impregnable fiscal performance in Nigeria.
The report, which surfaced on the website of the body – www.yourbudgit.com/data, penultimate Thursday, ranked Rivers State as the first among the 36 states, with Kaduna and Lagos states making the list as runners-up.
In acknowledgment of the landmark ranking, Fubara excitedly noted that the clinching of the top spot by Rivers State was a clear confirmation that the Distinguished Excellence Award in Infrastructure Delivery recently bestowed on Wike by President Muhammadu Buhari, today, was not a fluke but a true reflection of the record of on-ground accomplishments.
In a statement signed by the governorship candidate’s Deputy Media Assistant, Bon Onyedi, Fubara emphasised that such credible ranking was an indication of proper resource application and utilisation by the governor in line with budgetary provisions for the good of the people.
BudgIT, a non-governmental civic organisation, using technology to intersect citizen’s engagement, stated that the Rivers State ranking shows clear cut institutional improvement that was facilitating social change by applying a prudent approach to the delivery of social services as captured in the state’s budget.
The gubernatorial candidate stressed that having such a credible organisation to have ranked the state’s budget performance as the best-working for the people in the country, it was clear evidence that the governor and the state were on the right track.
He commended Wike for the feat, and expressed confidence that he would continue on this path of greatness as posterity would always remember him for his prudent and forthright leadership.
