RSG Set To Commission Medical School’s Faculty Buildings, Oct
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Justice Iche Ndu (rtd) has said that the state Governor, Chief Nysom Wike, has given indications that the College of Medical Sciences’ Pathology Building and the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences of the university under construction would be among the key government projects to be commissioned next month.
To this end, Justice Ndu has charged the contractors handling the high profile projects to ensure that the scheduled time of delivery remains sacrosanct.
The RSU pro-chancellor gave this hint, last Monday, when he led members of the university council and management team on an on-the-spot assessment visit to the projects sites.
He told journalists who were part of the team, after monitoring the projects at the Rivers State University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) compound, now housing the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences building that the projects have reached appreciable level of completion, and expressed optimism that the contractors would meet the contractual delivery timeline.
Justice Ndu, a former chief judge of the state, expressed satisfaction with the quality of job done by the contractors, and urged them to ensure that the furniture and equipment component of the contract were also delivered as scheduled.
“The projects are massive and high profile and we are happy that the projects are going according to plan”, he stated.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Nlerum Okogbule; the Registrar, Dr Sydney Enyindah; and the Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, Prof Chituru Olunwene; and others accompanied the pro-chancellor during the tour.
