RSG Begins 3rd Phase Verification Of Retirees, Today

Again, fresh hope has been rekindled as the Rivers State Government would, today, commence the third phase of the verification of retirees of the state civil service, who exited the service between 2016 and 2017.
A statement signed by the Director-General, Rivers State Pension Board (RSPB), Ijeoma Samuel, last Friday, in Port Harcourt, indicated that the verification would run from September 12 through October 31, 2022.
The statement reads in full: “The third phase of the verification exercise for payment of gratuity, pension arrears, and death benefits for retirees in the Rivers State public service as approved by the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, is scheduled to commence from September 12 to October 31, 2022, and covers retirees from 2016 to 2017.
“All retirees to be affected in this exercise are please requested to take note of their scheduled dates and to come with the relevant documents as follows:
“For gratuity and pension arrears, documents include: Pension ID Card, retirement letter, computation, authority for payment of retirement benefit as well as their BVN, print out and most recent bank statements.
“For death benefits, documents include: Death certificate, letter of administration/estate letter, computation, authority for payment of death benefit, next of kin ID Card.
“The scheduled dates are as follows: Retirees from January 2016 to April, 2016, are to appear from September 12 to September 16, 2022.
“Retirees from May, 2016 to August, 2016, are to appear from September 19 to September 23, 2022; while retirees from September 2016 to December, 2016 are to appear from September 26 to September 30, 2022.
“Retirees from January, 2017 to July, 2017 are to appear from October 17 to October 21, 2022 while retirees from August, 2017 to December, 2017 are to appear from October 24 to October 28, 2022.”
The statement added that all spill over cases for 2016 and 2017 retirees shall be treated on October 31, 2022.
According to Samuel, “all retirees are by this release requested to adhere to their scheduled dates of appointment.
“Finally, all retirees are please, advised to avoid the presentation of false documents, so as to avoid unnecessary embarrassment”, the statement added.
