Rivers Utd’s Player Called Up To S’Eagles
Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt defender, Ebube Duru, has been called up to the Nigeria senior squad (Super Eagles) ahead of the international friendly fixture with Algeria next week.
Duru, who was with his teammates for the CAF Champions League game against Watanga FC of Liberia in Monrovia was expected to have joined the José Santos Peseiro’s squad for the forthcoming International friendly against Algeria in Oran.
The defender’s call up was released in a statement signed by the team’s media officer, Charles Mayuku and made available to Tidesports on Monday.
The statement congratulated the player saying they were looking forward to watch him in action for Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Rivers United have advanced to the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions league despite losing the second leg of the first preliminary round to Watanga FC of Liberia. The Pride of Rivers lost the leg 1-0 but qualified to advance via a 3-1 aggregate after recording a comfortable 3-0 victory in the first leg played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, penultimate weekend.
