The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has described the allegation by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State that the commission was planning to change the locations of polling units as baseless.
INEC made this disclosure on Monday while reacting to the allegations levelled against the Commission and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the APC in Oyo State.
It could be recalled that the APC had on Sunday said that the ruling PDP in the state and INEC had concluded plans to change the locations of polling units ahead of the 2023 elections so as to frustrate the electorate.
APC through its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, alleged that the INEC intended to rig the elections in favour of the PDP.
But, INEC in its reaction, described the APC allegation as baseless and noted that it has no plan to change the locations of any polling units in the state.
Head of Department of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Civil Society of INEC in Oyo State, Mrs Rosemary Alaba Adeniyi, who stated this on Monday described the APC allegation as baseless.
Adeniyi, in a telephone conversation with The Tide source, said, “There is no iota of truth in that allegation at all. INEC expanded polling units last year and everybody was aware”.
