NCoS Boss Tasks Officers On Water-Tight Security
In the face of recent attacks on custodial facilities across the country, the Controller General, (CG) of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Haliru Nababa, has tasked men and officers of the service to brace up and ensure water-tight security in all correctional formations.
Nababa gave the charge while decorating 3, 852 newly promoted, advanced and upgraded officers of the agency ranging from the ranks of Inspector of Corrections (IC) to Deputy Controller of Corrections, (DCC) in Abuja, at the weekend.
Nababa urged the decorated men and officers to see their elevation as a call to higher responsibility, adding that they were expected to put in more effort in their various responsibilities, especially the protection of custodial facilities from attacks..
“As you all know, the service is going through turbulent times which has seen attacks on our custodial facilities by dissidents and enemies of our beloved country.
“Consequently, I expect you all to take up the challenge of ensuring water-tight security in all correctional formations as well as ensure efficient reformation, rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders in our custody,” he said.
Nababa further said the best way officers can reciprocate the efforts of the government at ensuring and making the welfare of personnel a priority, is by living up to expectations.
According to him, the recent promotion exercise “is a landmark in the history of the service as more officers are being promoted annually”.
“This is imperative because the services take the welfare and well-being of staff seriously and has gone the extra mile to improve the standard of living of all officers and men”.
He assured that the service will continue to improve on the capacity and livelihood of personnel.
