The Acting Chairman of Football Association in Nigeria, Rivers State chapter Ibigoni Benjamin Akobo, has disclosed that this year’s edition of Keves Global Football Competition( KGFC) in the state will have a delayed kicked off because they have not heard from the sole sponsor.
According to him, the FA would not be ruling out the competition this year, simply because they have not heard from the sponsor, stating that it would still go on but may be delayed.
Benjamin disclosed this over the weekend in a chat with Tidesports at the Sharks Football Stadium in Port Harcourt.
“ Every second week of September is the kick off of the Keves Global Football Competition in the State.
“We have communicated to the sole sponsor, but we are yet to hear from him, that is not to say we are ruling out the competition this year.
“ It is possible that we are going to have a late kick off this year. The competition will still go on,” Benjamin stated.
The acting chairman also disclosed that in their little way, they have done the much they could to reach out to sponsors of football competitions in the state, but it appears like football is no more attracting the milestone and fancy of those who would have been getting involved.
