FIDA, Others Demand Justice Over Rape Of Minors By Policeman

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Rivers State has condemned the alleged rape of underaged girls by an Inspector of Police in the state and urged the police to ensure that a thorough investigation was carried on the matter to ensure that justice was served as well as serve as a deterant to others.
FIDA Chairperson Rivers State, Ada-Bio Briggs, made the call in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt after the second victims of the rape appeared to the police human rights desk at the command’s headquarters to give her own voluntary statement on the orders of the state Commissioner of Police, Cp Friday Eboka .
Ada-Bio Briggs described the alleged act of the police officer as condemnable and urged the Police authorities in the state to investigate and prosecute the officer involved.
We know that the police have their own disciplinary measures. He should face that and also after facing that he should also face the court. You know that the offence of rape of a child is life imprisonment. Offence of rape is not something to toy with. It is something to be condemned. Owing to the fact that there is still issue of blackmail involved. Blackmail on its own is a big offence.
FIDA Rivers State condemns it in totality”, she stated.
Also speaking, the Chairperson of Legal Care Advocacy Foundation, Jane James, said “We commend the CP for inviting all parties upon hearing the matter and also taking steps to ensure the Police Officer is in custody. We are asking that let the investigation be devoid of every form of sentiment and emotion. Let all parties in the matter be given justice”.
The second girl that the Inspector Salihu Kazeem (aka Prince Olamide) allegedly raped alongside the 17 year-old-girl has come forward to make her statement at the human rights desk, Rivers State Police headquarters Moscow, Port Harcourt.
Speaking with journalists after her statement, the girl who just turned eighteen corobrated the statement of the 17 -year-old girl that they were both stripped naked, their nude pictures taken and raped till morning after the Inspector accused them of stealing his money.
Recall that the Inspector who accused them of stealing his money had denied taking nude videos and raping the underaged girls but admitted having consensual sex with them.
