Court Remands Husband, Mistress Over Attempt To Kill Wife

A Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court presided over by Dr Rita Oguguo has remanded one Chima Amadi , 40, who hails from Omerelu Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State and his girl friend , Miss Orluchi Chima, 22, at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre for allegedly attempting to kill his wife , Leticia Chima, 40, last month .
The Rivers State Police Command through the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) brought the case to court in form of remand order on Monday September 5,2022 after it concluded investigation into the matter .
No plea was taken as no charge was read to the accused based on the amended criminal practice administration .
The presiding Chief Magistrate of Court 15 ,Dr Rita Oguguo declined jurisdiction on the matter and immediately ordered that the accused persons be remanded at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre before adjourning the mattter to September 23, 2022, to enable the police arraign them properly in a court that has jurisdiction to try the matter.
It would be recalled that Warisi Anayo, elder brother to Mrs Leticia Chima, in an interview with journalists accused his sister’s husband and the female lover of using machete to cut her severally after his sister asked her husband why he brought his mistress to his matrimonial house on that fateful day.
The suspects were arrested by Elele Police Division and later transferred to State CIID, Port Harcourt.
