Court Remands Fake Reverend Sister In Custody

A Port Harcourt Magistrate Court in Rivers State has remanded an alleged fake reverend sister, Maureen Wechieonwu in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre for alleged murder and child trafficking offences.
Maureen Wechieonwu was charged on a 42-count charge bordering on murder and child trafficking among other offences by the state police command.
When the matter was brought to court by the police prosecuting legal officer led by ASP N. Chighewu, the presiding Chief Magistrate, Menenen Poromon, however said he lacked the jurisdiction to entertain count one as enlisted in the charge sheet and urged the prosecution team to go back and separate the charges .
Before adjourning the matter to the 10th of December 2022, he ordered the accused person to be remanded in the Port Harcourt Maximum Correctional Centre, while the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution ( DPP) for legal advice .
