Chairman, Rivers United FC’s Supporters Club, Comrade Franklin Owhor, has commended players of the football club for opening their account in the first leg preliminary round of the CAF champions league with a scintillating 3- 0 victory over visiting Watanga FC of Liberia in a match decided at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, last Sunday.
Owhor who made the commendation shortly after the match, described the performance of the Nigeria’s representative, Rivers United, as very impressive. He noted that the coach Stanley Eguma tutored team are seriously on course to make the state and Nigeria at large proud in this year’s CAF Champions league.
“Honestly, the three goals defeat from Rivers United FC was a good start for a side aspiring to win the trophy and we are looking forward and believing that the boys will cautiously defend their emphatic victory when they go to Monrovia for the reverse fixture.
“Interestingly, this present Rivers United team has solid defence line, mobile midfielders and ruthless ball finishers and I think with these good attributes, the team is balanced and prepared for this year’s continental assault”.
The supporters club Chairman, who has widely travelled with the state team, however, charged the players of Rivers United not to rest on their oars but to remain focused and committed in their approach to games as there is no way their good effort would not be rewarded by the sports loving Governor, Barr Nyesom Wike, if they eventually lift the CAF Champions League title at the end of the day.
