Zamfara State Government has said it had set aside N700 million for the reconstruction of five bridges and a set of roads across four Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Alhaji Abdullahi Gurbin-Bore, stated this at the inauguration of the projects at the 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army Cantonment, Gusau, Zamfara, Friday.
Gurbin-Bore listed the bridges to include Maigungumi Village and Tofa village near Dansadau, Maru LG; Badoki village bridge, Gurusu and Nasarawa Bukulu bridge in Bukuyum LG, as well as Ruwan Gora bridge in Talata Mafara area.
The project also included a 500-metre access road to Staff School of 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army Cantonment, Gusau.
He said approval of the project followed complaints from the affected communities.
Gurbin-Bore noted that some of the affected bridges had broken down since the last four years and had affected the movement of the people of the communities.
The Commissioner assured that the project, which would be executed through direct labour, would be completed within the shortest time to reconnect the affected communities.
