Youths Mark Day With Novelty Football Match

The Youth members of the Ascension Apostolic Church, Elekahia District Headquarters, Port Harcourt, have marked this year’s Youths Day celebration  with a novelty football match between Youths and Elders of the church on Saturday in Port Harcourt.
Speaking shortly after the match, Elder Nwiue Donatus Ken said that the choice of football was agreed on by the Church Council as part of activities for the celebration because the game brings peace, joy and love among the people.
According to him, the game will help the Elders and youths in their fitness for the activities of the church, adding that they will also use the game to discover talent in the church.
He advised the youths of the Church to take seriously the activities of the church and be focused on doing meaningful things that will bring development in the church and society.
He commended the youths who came out in their numbers for the game, adding that the game brought relief and fun to some and improved the fitness of others.
Also speaking, Elder Saro Tap-le said that he was very excited for the game because he knows the joy of the game among people in the world today.
“ It is a thing of joy to celebrate with the youth in the game because football is a game of joy and unity.
‘ As an ex- player I think the game has helped me to remember what I used to do in the past” Tap-le said.
He said that the game will also help in spreading the massage of God to the public.
