The youths under the aegis of Rivers Patriotic Youth Development Initiative (RIPAYDI) have described the Chairman of Khana Local Government Council of Rivers State, Dr. Bariere Thomas, as a manager of human and material resources, who assumed office at the most difficult time in the socio-economic life of the area in particular and the state in general.
They said that despite the odds, the chairman has changed the tide in the area positively with an avalanche of development projects and people-oriented programmes.
The group also described the chairman as a man of peace, wisdom, vision and direction, who saw the need to develop the people of Khana, particularly the younger generation so that they can play their societal role as leaders of tomorrow.
They commended the council boss for the peaceful and successful one year anniversary celebration, and pledged their unalloyed loyalty and support to his government towards delivering quality services to the people.
In a statement signed by its President, Hon. Evans Pighi; Secretary, Comrade Young Kpugimaape; and the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Kalapapa Dappa, respectively, in Saakpenwa, headquarters of Tai Local Government Area of the state, after a PVC sensitisation seminar, the group maintained that the chairman had remodelled the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre in Bori; built ultra-modern council security office and gate with state-of-the-art security gadgets; as well as constructed Bori market road drainages.
Other projects, the group said, include the building of primary school in Bean; award of scholarships to undergraduate and post-graduate students in the area, among other empowerment largesse to the people of Khana in spite of the harsh economic realities in Nigeria.
The group, in the statement, stressed that governance in the country within the last seven years has been quite challenging, adding that the numerous development achievements of the administration remain remarkable compared to past governments in the area.
On PVC safety and security, the group urged eligible voters in the country to secure their PVCs from desperate politicians to enable them participate in the February and March 2023 general election for their betterment.
