Perm Sec, Others Harp On Viable Skills, Vocation For Dev

As an illustrious daughter of Tombia in Degema Local Government Area, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs Titilola Cline, has underscored the need for sound vocational and life skills to propel development.
Speaking at the skills and vocational training event held at Tombia Town Hall in collaboration with Tombia Youth Federation (TYF), Cline said life skills would lead to enhanced self-reliance and better future for young people.
She said,”The need for education, vocational and life skills is needed amongst our youth as this would allow for creativity, self-reliance and responsibility that would lead to the development”.
Cline pointed out that the programme would also boost school enrolment and academic performance, such that young persons can identify their potentials and pursue them.
She urged youths in the area to take advantage of the vocational facility-Government Technical College – to hone their talents to achieve their life goals.
On his part, President of the Tombia Youth Federation, Owen Igbigialabo, urged youths in the community to take advantage of the training to better their lives.
Igbigialabo stressed that any skill acquired can never be a waste, as it would provide leeway for survival of any individual.
Also speaking, a cleric, Pastor Bob-Manuel, exhorted the participants on the need to put their trust in God to direct them aright.
The programme witnessed pep talks and advice from top personalities that include the Director of Administration in the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, Mrs Emi Jameson,who advised the youths to utilise what they learnt to better their future.
Similarly, Dr. Sime Johnbull and past president of Tombia youths, Mr Fayeofori Ngiangia, while contributing, gave words of admonition, and encouragement for the youths.
Highlights of the event include prayers, and motivational speeches.
