NYSC Warns Corps Members Against Political Engagements

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reiterated that corps members are forbidden from engaging in politics.
The spokesperson for the NYSC, Eddy Megwa, said if found guilty, such a person is liable to six months’ imprisonment or a fine.
Mr Megwa maintained that NYSC remained apolitical because the scheme was in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“Management hereby restates that the scheme remains apolitical and neutral without any form of attachment to any political party,” said the NYSC official.
He also reminded members of the public that section 14 of the NYSC Act made it an offence for someone who is not a corps member to wear the NYSC uniform.
