Man Donates House To Widow In A’ Ibom

A man, Mr Emmanuel Jacobs, has donated one bedroom apartment to a widow, Mrs Iquo Udoaka, who hails from Ikot Ekpe in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of the State.
Speaking during the hand over ceremony in Mkpat Enin, Mr Jacobs said the idea was to put smile on the face of the widow who was living in a place not suitable to be inhabited.
“I was moved when I saw the place this woman was living, it was terrible and not befitting to house a human being.
“I am glad today that God has used us to make her smile again. I pray for God’s blessings and protection upon her life, her only surviving daughter, and every other person that will live in this house,” Jacobs said.
Also, the Family Head of Otong Ukoya, in Ikot Ekpe village, Mr Bob Akpan, extolled Jacobs for sheltering a widow and encouraged him to aim for an elective political office.
“What we are seeing today should be done by Senators, House of Reps members, House of Assembly Members, Council Chairmen, Commissioners and other political office holders but you have decided to do this in your private capacity.
“We are happy as a family and we pray for higher blessings upon you and your family.
“You are a sellable material that we should send to an elective position, because you have proven to us that when God blesses you more, you will extend the benevolence to others,” he said.
In her remarks, Mrs Mercy Bassey, the acting Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government, described Jacobs’ gesture as “uncommon”.
She urged Jacobs not to relent in his efforts at putting smiles on the faces of the downtrodden.
The youth representative in the community, Mr Godwin Asuquo, also expressed appreciation to the donor and commended him for the gesture in spite of not being an indigene of the community.
