Insecurity: Osun NSCDC Harps On Intelligence Gathering
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has emphasised the need for proactive grassroots intelligence gathering in the fight against insecurity.
The NSCDC also declared its readiness to protect lives, property, critical national assets and infrastructure in the community, and combat the nagging insecurity in the country.
Stating this on a visit to the Palace of Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, the Osun State Commandant, Agboola Sunday, stressed that to achieve the feat, there was a need for collective responsibility of all stakeholders.
While revealing that it was impossible for personnel of the NSCDC to be present in the nook and cranny of the State, Agboola added that the input of the stakeholders from the grassroots was essential.
“I enjoin His Royal Highness, the chiefs and indigenes of Iwo town to furnish the Corps with timely information and I assure that such information shall be treated with strict confidence.
“The Osun NSCDC also assure you of the effective service delivery of the Corps’ core mandate and adequate security of life and property of the indigenes.
“As such, we are ready to protect life, property, critical national assets and infrastructure in the community and combat the nagging insecurity in the country.
“However, this feat can only be achieved with the collective responsibility of all stakeholders, most importantly at the grassroots.
“This is so because there is the need for proactive intelligence from the grassroots as it is impossible for Officers and Men of the Corps to be present in the nook and cranny of the state”, he said.
