Group Extols Wike On Security
A pro-Ogoni group under the auspices of “Ogoni Development Drive”, has commended the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for tackling insecurity in the area.
Convener of the group, Solomon Lenu, while speaking at the weekend in a live radio programme organised by Silverbird Communications in Port Harcourt, said the Governor is doing his best and should be commended.
He stated that the insecurity is not peculiar to Ogoniland, but is common in the country, hence efforts should be made to address it.
Lenu used the platform to dispel claims that Ogoni people are not united, noting that “Ogoni land has contributed immensely to the development of the State”.
The Ogoni development advocate condemned those who instil disunity and cause crisis among the Ogonis, saying it goes against the quest of the people to clinch the governorship of the State.
He urged the people to be wary of individuals who want to sow seeds of disunity among them, while stressing that Ogoni people are peace loving.
Calling on other ethnic groups to support Ogoni quest to be Governor, Lenu said, “the last time an Ogoni vied for the Governor was in 1983.”
According to him, 2023 remains “the best bet for the Ogonis to clinch the governorship of Rivers State”.
