2023: Team Wike Vows To Remain United, Focused

Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has met with his strategy team that formed the nucleus of the governor’s Presidential Campaign Organisation (PCO), at an expanded meeting last Monday.
At the meeting, which held for several hours in Abuja, members resolved to remain solidly together, and focused on working to avoid distractions by enemies of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This is the first time the coordinators of Wike’s campaign team have met after the national convention that produced Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the Presidential candidate for the PDP.
In a brief but terse statement made available to journalists after the meeting, spokesman of the team, Prof Jerry Gana, disclosed that they met to review the convention and other issues related to it.
He said their supporters and Nigerians would be briefed as soon as discussions on the next step unravel.
Gana said, “We have frankly reviewed matters among ourselves; we want to confirm that we are solidly together as a group.
“We also want to let the nation know that we shall keep our people briefed as developments unfold.
“We are very delighted to have had this meeting to exchange views to review matters, and we know that developments would unfold, and as they do, we shall honestly and properly brief the nation.”
Some of those who attended the meeting included Governors of Benue State, Samuel Ortom; Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde; Enugu State, Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; and Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.
Others are former Governors of Plateau State, Jonah David Jang; Ono State, Dr Segun Mimiko; Cross River State, Donald Duke; Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo; and Kogi State, Ibrahim Idris.
Also in attendance were the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Phillip Aduda; Senator Zainab Kure; Senator Suleiman Nazif; Senator Olaka Nwogu; PDP Deputy National Chairman, South-South Zone, Chief Dan Orbih; former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, SAN; Mohammed Abacha; Hon. David Ombagadu; the PDP Governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, Hon. Beni Lar; and Hon Tijjani Yusuf.
The rest were Senator Mohammed Nazif, former Gov Jonah Jang, former Gov Dankwambo, former AGF Bello Adoki, Chief Dan Orbih, Alhaji Mohammed Abacha, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris.
