Sports Commissioner Commends NBA Player For Sponsoring Competition
The Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Barrister Christopher Green has commended Nigeria International Basketball player, Precious Achiuwa for sponsoring basketball competition in the state.
He said that he was very excited for Achiuwa for remembering where he started the game of basketball from, adding that he has done a great job by remembering his people.
Green made the commendation on Monday in an interview with sports journalists at the basketball court in Port Harcourt, where the competition is ongoing.
The basketball competition which is tagged “Giving Back To The Society” is being sponsored by Precious Achiuwa, who plays for Toronto Raptors in America.
The commissioner thanked Achiuwa for giving back to the society, saying that he is happy for him for the gesture.
“ Yes, he could have taken it to another place but for having the mind, feeling and force of coming back home where he started from, God will bless him”r Green said.
The commissioner pointed out that the basketball court in Port Harcourt has raised a lot of people in the society who are doing well in the game.
The training camp for the competition was opened on Monday and will close today, while the tournament kicks off proper from tomorrow to Sunday.
