Rivers Utd Captain Expresses Joy Over FA Cup Victory
Captain of Rivers United FC, Austin Festus, has expressed joy for winning this year’s Rivers State AITEO Football Cup competition.
According to him, United have the best players in the country and their impressive performances are clear demonstration of that fact.
Festus said this in an exclusive interview with Tidesports on Wednesday, shortly after they beat hard fighting Police Crime Busters FC 3-1 at the final of the AITEO Cup at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
“I am very happy this season for what we have done so far,” he stated.
“I have to commend the management of the team and technical crew for what they have done to ensure the team moved forward.
‘What we are now looking forward to is the continental competition and I believe the management has started preparing for it,” Festus said.
‘We are looking forward to doing better in the continental games and I equally believe that the state government and management have started preparing for it,” Austin said.
Homeboy, Chijioke Akuneto and Sikiru Olatunbosun scored the first and second goals respectively, while Malachi Ohawume made it three in the second half.
Also speaking, Head Coach of Police Crime Busters FC, ASP Douye Ghomorai, commended his players for their impressive performance in the competition.
“We played against the number one club in the country, so my boys (players) did their best. It was a good game.
‘I commend their efforts,” Ghomorai said.
