As the 2023 general elections draw closer, the gubernatorial candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Enger Danago Opurum Wenike-Briggs, has insisted that he will use job creation to fight insecurity in Rivers State, should his dream to govern the state becomes a reality.
Wenike-Briggs said this when he spoke with newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday.
He reasoned that security can only be achieved in conducive environment and such can be attainable when the people are gainfully employed.
The Salvation Ministries’ Deacon pointed out that unemployment was part of the reasons for insecurity in his State, but expressed hope that it will be addressed soon.
He said crime was the offshoot of joblessness that cannot be reversed by mere words.
According to him, no well-to-do man or woman will abandon his/her duty post and begin to chase frivolities.
He also pleaded with people to think less of crime commission and added that they cannot get a valid recognition through such means.
The YPP guber candidate explained how it will only take good people to fight the injustices prevalent in the country on daily basis and said that there is no justification for crime merchants.
“We are looking at a situation where night life in Port Harcourt will be revived. The people have missed a lot. Though the present government is not doing badly, we will do better”, he said.
He also hinted that his government will run an open door policy that will force criminals to bow out and embrace peace.
Meanwhile, he has promised to use local policing system to ensure that security is archived in every community in the state.
