Eid-el-Kabir: Wike, Banigo, Fubara Felicitate With Muslims, Sue For Peace
Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has sued for peace in the country to enhance stability and growth.
Wike gave the advise in a statement signed by his Special Assistant Media, Kelvin Ebiri, congratulating Muslims on the 2022 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The State Chief Executive wished all Muslim faithful across the country happy Eld-el-Kabir.
He urged Muslims to always emulate the life style of Prophet Mohammed, stressing that Prophet Mohammed symbolised peace and tolerance.
Wike prayed for peace and wisdom in solving the challenges facing the nation, especially the insecurity, and urged all Muslim faithful in the state to remain peaceful as they join their counterparts all over the world to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
The governor, who reminded Muslims of the significance of the celebration which is selfless sacrifice, total commitment and loyalty, enjoined them to first consider the interest of the nation before any other.
He assured that Rivers State Government would continue to protect the rights of every citizen in the state, and also guarantee the freedom of worship and association as enshrined in the constitution.
Similarly, Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, felicitated with Muslim faithful in the state as they celebrate the 2022 Eid-el-Kabir festival.
In a goodwill message signed by her Chief Press Secretary, Owupele Benebo in Government House, Port Harcourt, last Friday, Banigo urged Muslims in the state to emulate the virtues of obedience exhibited by Prophet Ibrahim, who in total obedience to Allah’s command, was ready to sacrifice Ishmael, his son.
The deputy governor, who reiterated the commitment of the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration’s desire to give all residents in the state a sense of belonging, implored them to continue to live peacefully with their Christian counterparts.
She disclosed that the state government would continue to collaborate with the security agencies to ensure a hitch-free celebration, and wished all Muslims a Happy Eid-el-Kabir.
Also, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2023 elections in Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, felicitated with the Muslim faithful in the state and across the country on this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a goodwill message, Fubara said it was important to recognise the reason for the celebration which centres on sacrifice for humanity, and urged them to continuously reflect on its significance of love for one another for peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians.
He further urged them to use the occasion to pray for the peace and progress of Nigeria by asking Allah to heal our nation from the bile of unnecessary violence and killings by criminals and bandits.
The gubernatorial candidate noted that it is unfortunate that at a time the nation should be consolidating on the gains of democracy, the country is held down by criminal gangs with senseless killings and kidnappings.
He stressed that it is time for all religious faiths to pray for the peace of the nation, especially as the election season approaches.
