The Head Coach of New Creation Ambassador Church Football Club of Port Harcourt, Marius Okechukwu  has called on the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to hire an indigenous coach for Nigeria Super Falcons of Nigeria.
Okechukwu made the call at the weekend in an exclusive interview with Tidesports when the Super Falcons failed to win bronze medal in the Women Africa Cup Of Nations(WAFCON) in Morocco.
According to him, indigenous coaches know how to handle the Super Falcons team better than their foreign counterparts, adding that Morrocco 2022 was one of the very few times the Super Falcons failed in the WAFCON.
The Copper Queens of Zambia beat Falcons 1-0 to claim bronze medal last Friday in the third place match.
An own goal by Chiamaka Nnadozie in the first half led to the defeat of the Super Falcons.
Coach Okechukwu, who is popularly called  Coach Maco said that the Super Falcons coach failed in his primary duty by not introducing his younger players in the team.
He explained that the coach knew that most of his important players were either injured or red carded, adding that the best to have done was to introduce young players who could have been faster on the ball and run with the ball  because the Zambian girls were very fast on the ball.
When asked whether to sack the coach, he said that he was not the authority of the Nigeria Football Federation, ( NFF).
“ We Have a lot of indigenous coaches that have been with the team and they have achieved.
‘ We have home based coaches who are qualified and ready to do the job.
‘ I believe home based coaches can achieve a lot with the team because if you watch them playing,  they did not play the Africa football pattern.
