AFP, RSBA To Host Basketball Festival In PH
Athletes For Peace (AFP) in conjunction with Rivers State Basketball Association (RSBA) has disclosed that arrangements have been put in motion towards hosting the second edition of DA-F Basketball Youth Festival tagged”The Future of Naija Basketball”.
The competition is expected to commence on the 21st of next month through 29, at the Basketball Court, Niger/Bende Streets in Old Port Harcourt Township.
This was contained in a statement signed by the coordinator of DA-F Basketball Foundation, Coach Fubara Onyanabo and made available to Tidesports, yesterday.
The statement further stated that the week- long event would feature 50 teams in different categories, U-13 mixed boys and girls, U-16 boys, U-18 ladies and U-19 men.
According to him, entries are open for public, private schools and other basketball academies, adding that participants are to be accommodated at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Sports Complex, Moscow Road in Port Harcourt.
“The organisers will provide accommodation at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Sports Complex, Moscow Road and the meal subsidy for teams coming from outside Rivers State. Besides, registration is free.
“Outstanding teams in the youth festival will be awarded medals of honour and outstanding participants in each category will go home with plaques and souvenirs”, Onyanabo said.
Onyanabo, advised schools and basketball academies to register immediately and commence preparations.
