Paramount Ruler Tasks Women On Community Cleaning
Abarikpo, Akoh Community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, has elected twelve members executive to run the affairs of the women in the community.
Inaugurating the body, Paramount Ruler of Abarikpo Community, Chief Eke Fyneboy charged the women to be up and doing.
The paramount ruler, listed some of the responsibilities of the women wing to includes cleaning of the community markets, playgrounds, arenas, health centres and roads.
He said bringing women together and ensuring that they united among themselves peacefully, will move the community forward.
The women executives are expected to function for the tenure of five years.
The paramount ruler also charged them to give support to their male counterpart for the community to move forward .
The paramount ruler also expressed hope and optimism that the caliber of women elected will demonstrate good leadership capacity, pointing out “ with this women leadership committee now in place all the untidy areas like the health centre, bushy market square will be tidied up” while wishing them healthy peaceful tenure in office.
On his part, the Abarikpo Community Secretary, Ikendu Alabi expressed profound gratitude to god almighty for the gesture, thanking the people that came from far and near to grace the successful event.
In her post elections speech the Abarikpo community women leader, Mrs Happiness Gold Okpara thanked the Eze Nwe-Ula, Chief Eke Fyneboy, chiefs, elders and youths for finding them worthy to serve the community.
She expressed willingness and zeal to work in oneness, peace, unity and love collectively for overall interest.
The Abarikpo Community women leader also called for all hands to be on deckas she promised to ensure that all women come together and work as one to attract peace, progress and development.
Similarly, the Abarikpo Ekpeye Community women secretary, Mrs Chigbeweji Lawyer in her response promised to use the position to reunite Abarikpo women.
She noted that the women duty schedule for community cleaning has been drawn up, adding work will commence in earnest as she also thanked the men for recognising the women.
