Our Objective Is To Dev Youths Through Sports – Dekor

A member Representing Khana/Gokana Constituency of Rivers state in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Dumnamene Dekor has said that one of his cardinal objectives as an elected officer in the area is to develop youths through sports.
He noted that sports creates wealth and expressed joy on how youths participate in sporting activities in recent times in the state.
Hon Dekor said this last week, in an interview with sports journalists during the State semi-final match of this year’s AITEO Cup between Rivers United FC and Khana FC, at the Sharks Football Stadium in Port Harcourt.
According to him, he is encouraged and excited that a team from his Local Government Area is competing with the team that is topping the log of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) this season.
“Firstly I thank God Almighty because I was waiting to see a day like this.
What I have seen today is most encouraging; I am very excited that a team from my home land is competing at this level.
I am very excited for the youths of today who have taken to sporting activities to the extent we are in at this time.
‘I congratulate the team and the chairman of the Local Government Council, Dr Thomas Bariere for his vision, which is part of our cardinal objectives to make sure the youths are given opportunity to excel.
Also speaking the chairman of Khana Council, Dr Thomas Bariere said that the vision of forming a football team was initiated by the immediate past administration.
He expressed joy that his aim of establishing football club in the LGA is achieved.
“Government is a continuous process so when we came on board we said we want to create employment by establishing a football club and today that vision has been achieved I am very excited,” Dr Bariere said.
