Ogu/BoloBoss Bans Sales Of Scraps, Movement Of Motorcycles From 11pm
The Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Barrister Vincent Nemieboka,has banned the use of motorcycles in the communities from 11pm.
He also banned traders from the sales of scraps in the communities.
Nemieboka made this known at the quarterly combined meeting of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area Council of Traditional Rulers and Divisional Council of Chiefs of various communities in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area held,last Friday, at the Ogu/Bolo LGA Annex Complex, in Ogu.
Speaking on the increase in criminality in Ogu/Bolo, he said the council would set up a vigilante group to also help in beefing up security in the area.
The meeting, which was Chaired by the Amanyanabo Of Bolo, King Acheseinimie Micah Frankhad the chiefs of all the communities that make up Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area in attendance.
Nemieboka welcomed the Amanyanabo of Bolo and all chiefs from the communities, and expressed delight that the council was hosting such an historic meeting because it would be the first meeting in the council Annex Hall.
He, therefore, used the opportunity to declare the hall open for use.
Nemieboka said the traditional rulers’ meeting meant a lot to him because it showed there was peace and understanding among the traditional institution in Ogu/Bolo, noting that in some other places, there were factions among the traditional rulers, thereby making it difficult for such gatherings to be held.
He said the chiefs were the traditional lawmakers of the communities, and where they fail to make laws, the communities would be in disarray, and expressed joy that the case was different in Ogu/Bolo because the monarchswere exceptional.
He said the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area Council of Traditional Rulers was an advisory body to the LG council, advising on what to do in order to improve development and sustain the existing peace.
He said he would be expecting to get details of the meeting so he could implement what was appropriate for area.
On his development strides, Nemieboka said that he would be one year in office on June 17,2022, adding that his greatest joy aside the various projects he has executed, was having a united traditional institution signifying that there was peace in Ogu/Bolo.
He reminded the chiefs that he has promised to fulfill all his campaign promises, adding with God on his side, he would deliver on his promises.
Nemieboka used the medium to give stewardship of his administration in the past one year, ranging from healthcare, power supply, economy, infrastructure development and rehabilitation and intangible development.
“Every community in Ogu/Bolo LGA has been reached and the stories are visible when you visit these communities”, he said.
He also explained that he intended to focus on human capital development.
He said one of the challenges he would want the monarchs to look into was the issue of chieftaincy tussle in Ele community, adding that when that was done, he would implement whatever they suggest.
In his address, Amanyanabo of Bolo, King Acheseinimie Micah Frank,thanked the chairman for all the efforts he has put in bringing smiles to the faces of the people.
He also called on all stakeholders to make sure they sustain the existing peace because development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace.
In his remarks, the senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Chief George Thompson Sekibo, said the traditional rulers were in support of any effort aimed at peace building.
He also reminded the chiefs that they play a major role in the overall development of the area.
